Completed Projects

Creswell, Derbyshire

Fields

Overview of the Creswell minewater treatment site showing the completed lagoons which operate as three pairs in parallel. Subsequently, aeration cascades and chemical dosing facilities were added. Selective use of unburnt & burnt colliery spoil achieved a sealing liner to the ponds on the highly permeable strata.

The site is a regional pumping station constructed to control water levels in the now abandoned North Derbyshire coalfield as deep mining continues in adjacent Nottinghamshire mines. The discharge is from a purpose built pumping station through a 12km overland pipeline to discharge to the dilution afforded by the River Rother.
